The Liberty Debates Championship – MahaSangram 2016 Grand Finale!

grand finale - liberty debates

The finals of The Liberty Debates Championship – MahaSangram 2016 will take place on April 30, 2016 at Islington College, Kamal Marg, Kamal Pokhari beginning 10.00 am. The venue is Westminister Hall (Palace), London Block of the college.

The Championship was a month long debate league that began in April 2016 and ran every week for 4 weeks, with debates being conducted in both English and Nepali categories. This league was preceded by our Liberty Debates engagement that ran every month from January until March 2016. The Liberty Debates engagement and Championship both came about as a result of our recognition for a need to involve the young in relevant discussions on politics and economics. This is a joint effort by Samriddhi Foundation and Debate Network Nepal.

Our grand finals in English will take place on the motion – ‘This house condemns the breach of property rights during the recent road expansion project in Kathmandu’.

For Nepali debates, the motion will be:

यस सदन नेपाललाई संघीयतामा लैजानु अघि जनमतसंग्रह गरिनुपर्थ्यो भन्ने मान्यता राख्दछ  |

The final debates are usually the most exciting of the championship, with the best debaters having progressed to the finals. To view the complete list of finalists, click here!
