The first ever Nepal Economic Growth Agenda (NEGA) identified and discussed policy constraints in five growth sectors of Nepal viz. Agriculture, Education, Hydropower, Transport Infrastructure and Tourism. Following its launch in July 2012, the reports have played an important role in expanding the information base for policymakers and other stakeholder in making policy decisions in the sector.
To improve tourism, NEGA recommended opening additional peaks for climbers, and the government decided to open 23 new peaks for expedition in mid-2013. This was followed by another decision to further open up another 47 peaks.
