February 2016 will see Samriddhi, The Prosperity Foundation conducting a total of five public events for those interested in political and economic discourse! Please find the details of our events this month below:

The highlight of the February month is the engagement programs with Dr. Eamonn Butler. Dr. Butler is Director of the Adam Smith Institute, one of the world’s leading policy think-tanks. He contributes to the leading print and media on current issues and is author of number of books on the economists such as Milton Friedman, F A Hayek, Ludwig von Mises and Adam Smith.

  • The Secret to Prosperity: What made England rich?

A lecture series on ‘The Secret to Prosperity: What made England rich?’ will be conducted on 15 February 2016 at King’s College with Dr. Eamonn Butler, Director-Adam Smith Institute. Dr. Butler will be sharing knowledge on how England achieved its prosperity. The session will also focus on the role of free markets and rule of law to achieve prosperity in Nepal. The session will be beneficial for students of Economics, Management and Development Studies in particular.

  • Econity on Engaging the Private Sector in Economic Policy Forum

An Econity session will be organized on ‘Engaging the Private Sector in Economic Policy Forum’ where Dr. Eamonn Butler, Director (Adam Smith Institute), will be speaking on the private sector’s role in policy debate and the measures on tackling corruption through private sector involvement. Further discussion will be carried out on liberalization and value that the private sector creates for an economy. The event will take place on 17 February 2016 at Hotel Annapurna, Durbarmarg.

  • Last Thursdays with an Entrepreneur

Last Thursdays with an Entrepreneur is a sharing platform for successful and aspiring entrepreneurs. The talk program features successful and prominent entrepreneurs from Nepal to talk about their success stories and challenges they face in the Nepali business environment. The event will be hosted by E4N and Biruwa Ventures at Moods Studio Lounge and Heritage Regale on 25 February 2016 beginning 5 pm.

  • The Liberty Debates- 2nd Engagement

The Liberty Debates series is a two-day ideas and debate workshop – on the first day, participants are introduced to classical liberal ideas on a particular theme. The theme for this month will be Market Economy. The second half of the first day shall be a training on the British Parliament (BP) debating format and its techniques. The second day of the engagement will allow participants in the training the day before to engage in a live debate session. The engagement will be carried out on 26-27 February 2016 at King’s College.
