The ninth Arthalaya was organized from 18 – 23 June, 2010 at Dhulikhel Lodge Resort, Kathmandu. A total number of 24 participants were selected from 21 colleges. There was a significant boom in the number of applicants this year compared to previous ones.
Key discussions were held on the facilitating role of the government, understanding requirements and leadership skills required to set up business and the importance of entrepreneurship and basic qualities/attributes of an entrepreneur. Each session of Arthalaya is interactive where every participant can at least rudimentarily understand the topics of discussion so that they can take part in it and provide inputs from real life experiences. Anil Chitrakar, a renowned Social Entrepreneur of Nepal, managed to keep students engaged in discussions of virtue of markets and was in-fact rated one of the most enjoyable speakers by the batch in later evaluations. Several other speakers managed to keep the participants engaged yet on their toes with fruitful discussions on the importance of free markets.
The ‘Samriddh Company’ title was won by SANS Enterprise Company by partners Shree Krishna Pokhrel, Sapan Dulal, Nishant Shandilya and Ananta Raj Ghimire, which specialized in events management. The winners described their victory as nothing short of exhilarating.
