Call for partners – Global Entrepreneurship Week 2016

Samriddhi Foundation invites interested individuals and business persons to join hands with us for an upcoming worldwide celebration of the Global Entrepreneurship Week – Nepal 2016 from November 14-20, 2016.

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is the world’s largest celebration of innovators and job creators, who launch startups that bring ideas to life to drive economic growth and expand human well-being. The initiative kicked off in 2008, launched by former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Carl Schramm, the president and CEO of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. Since then, it has grown to 160 countries—with nearly 20,000 partner organizations planning more than 35,000 activities that directly engage more than 10 million people.

During one week each November, GEW inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. These activities, from large-scale competitions and events to intimate networking gatherings, connect participants to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors—introducing them to new possibilities and exciting opportunities.

GEW 2016 focuses on five major themes: namely, Investors, Youth, Women, Cities and Scale-Ups. This year, we will be marking GEW Nepal 2016 in three particular themes from the five: Investors, Youths and Cities.

Samriddhi Foundation has been the official host of the GEW since 2010 and has year after year, engaged with a growing group of partners in celebrating this event. In terms of activities, we have divided them according to set themes. Under GEW Investors and Youth, we plan to have at least three separate panel discussions hosting 5-10 speakers – inclusive of investors, business persons, start-ups, established entrepreneurs and investment experts who will engage in discussing the business and investment climate of Nepal – focusing on current strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities for the same.

Under GEW Cities, we plan to felicitate thriving innovators and entrepreneurs whose work has been innovative and important to Nepalese society and commerce. We have engaged in recognizing these entrepreneurs in past GEW celebrations as well.  Twitter debates by notable persons in business and policy, and inspiring start-up stories by upcoming entrepreneurs shall also be featured on our social media portals.

One of the primary goals of GEW 2016 will be to engage a number of enterprise and business related individuals to come together in order for us to form a small but effective Global Entrepreneurship Network – Nepal board. This will enable a more dedicated small group of individuals to not only celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship every November hereon, but work together in order to engage in business and enterprise opportunities throughout the year.

Interested individuals/businesses can collaborate with Samriddhi to run activities as previously mentioned (as sponsors, venue partners and/or logistics partners) or participate in celebrating GEW by organizing more activities with us.
