Liberty Discussion on “How Roman Central Planner destroyed their economy”

Liberty discussion pertaining to the month of March was conducted on the 1st of April 2022 in an article titled, “How Roman Central Planner destroyed their economy” by Richard M. Ebeling published in Foundation for Economic Education Stories (FEE Stories). During the session, the participants discussed the pros and cons of central planning in general. Participants mentioned that planning may be necessary for certain contexts involving urban development and resource governance, but it should not constrain the productive allocation of resources through the force of the market. Also, the participants discussed that urban planning with the involvement of subnational governments and civic entities is also necessary to ensure sustainable urbanization in the outskirts of the Kathmandu Valley. Meanwhile, central planning in the areas of education, health, and social security as being pushed by the government needs to be in check.
