Liberty Discussion on ‘Money Works Better’ by Alok Rajouria

On 27 th Dec, 2019, the participants gathered for the last Liberty Discussion of the year, to discuss and debate on the article titled “Money Works Better” written by Alok Rajouria. The article basically asserted the effectiveness of the Cash-based grant schemes by providing multiple successful cases. Likewise, the article believed that whether Cash transfers should be conditioned or non-conditioned is debatable and purely contextual.

Amid such opinion of the writer, the participants debated on effectiveness of conditioned cash grant versus unconditioned cash grant. Subsequently, the debate also explored on whether cash-grant or grant in general is effective to generate intended outcome for all relevant stakeholders. Importantly, the debate on whether the Global and local grant system is even fair and justifiable to taxpayers who involuntarily funds the grant pool also met the discussion table.

As time was limited, members could not discuss more on these issues even though they desired to. But as always, members can always continue their discussion on the Facebook group.
