Mr. Deependra Chaulagain, Director of Outreach and Operations at Samriddhi Foundation, moderated a panel discussion titled ‘लाइनमा कि अनलाइन ?’ at Fonepay Digital Economy Conclave. The panel featured Ms. Sewa Pathak, CEO of Vianet Communications, Mr. Subhas Sapkota, CEO of eSewa, Mr. Neelesh Man Singh Pradhan, CEO of Nepal Clearing House Limited, and Mr. Purna Prasad Acharya, CEO of CDS and Clearing Limited. The conversation among some of the leading companies in the digital transformation movement in Nepal mapped the growth of digitalization in Nepal and the changes it has brought forward in people’s lives. With the increasing penetration of the internet, which has been further propelled by the Covid-19 pandemic, the use of digital technology has become a necessity. The use of digital technology has become essential in the capital market, banking, e-commerce, public service delivery, and in people’s everyday lives. In addition, the discussion also explored the critical shortcomings of service providers related to infrastructure development and data security measures. The panelists stressed the need to remove policy hurdles, such as the lack of data security-related policies, which are hindering the growth of the digital ecosystem in Nepal.
