The ability of parents to choose education for their children and the quality of education are directly connected. Drawing that connection, Samriddhi’s researcher, Akash Shrestha, wrote and article on the national daily, The Himalayan Times.
Commenting on existing public education system in Nepal, Shrestha wrote that alhough the Government of Nepal has been implementing several programs – such as Education for All (EFA), Secondary Education Support Programme (SESP), Community School Support Programme (CSSP) and Teacher Education Program (TEP) – to increase the quality of education, the impacts are low.
The article proposes school choice enabled through education vouchers as an alternative to restructure the education system so that even the poor are able to receive quality education.
