The Foundation organized a consultation meeting with Foreign Direct Investors on Hydro power on the 16th of October, 2014, at Hotel Utsav, Naxal Kathmandu. The meeting was organized to get the investors’ inputs for ongoing study on Foreign Direct Investment.
In the meeting, hydro entrepreneurs shared that an open FDI policy alone will not be enough to attract investments in the hydro sector. Simultaneous reforms should take place in sectoral policies too, such as improvement of institutional structure, better provisioning of transmission line construction and sorting out a comprehensive power trade framework. The meet was deemed to be successful in its aim of having organized an informative exchange of ideas and concerns.
