Research Intern – Samriddhi Foundation

Location: Kathmandu, Nepal (On-Site)
Position Type: Full-Time
Duration: Three Months
Start Date: November 15th, 2026
Reports to: Research Officer/Research Manager

1.  About the Organisation

Samriddhi Foundation is an independent, non-partisan public policy think tank based in Kathmandu. Samriddhi’s work is organised around three mutually reinforcing pillars: (i) improving governance and public institutions; (ii) enabling market mechanisms and entrepreneurship; and (iii) fostering values of a democratic society. For nearly two decades, the organisation has conducted rigorous policy research, diagnosed institutional and procedural bottlenecks, and translated findings into actionable reform recommendations. 2.  About the Position

The Research Intern is an entry-level position. The Research Intern will work closely with the Foundation’s research team to work on three core areas, namely: Nepal’s Labour Market, Public Finance, and Governance and Regulatory Environment, to produce high-quality data-driven policy briefs and research reports.

3.  Key Responsibilities

Research and Analysis

  • Gather, review, and synthesise academic, policy, and grey literature on assigned topics,
  • Conduct primary and secondary data analysis to support research projects,
  • Assist in developing survey instruments and questionnaires and support field data collection where applicable,
  • Clean and organise datasets for analysis using statistical packages (e.g., Stata, R).

Writing and Communication

  • Draft research briefs, working papers, policy notes, and summaries,
  • Support the editing and preparation of publications for print and online dissemination,
  • Prepare visualisations, tables, and charts to present research findings clearly,
  • Prepare short write-ups and insights for Samriddhi’s blog or social media content.

Project Support

  • Coordinate research activities with internal team members and, if needed, with external partners,
  • Maintain documentation of research processes, data sources, and findings,
  • Contribute to the preparation of presentation materials for policy discussions.

4.  Qualification & Skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, public policy, law, political science, development studies, statistics, or related field, or a final-year undergraduate student willing to commit to working 8 hours per day, six days a week [Flexible working hours may be arranged for final-year undergraduate students, allowing flexibility in their start and end times.]
  • Strong interest in public policy, economic development, and governance research in Nepal.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English and Nepali.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with quantitative or qualitative data collection and analysis.
  • Proficiency with statistical tools (e.g. Stata, R, SPSS) and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise research summaries and visualisations.

5. Remuneration

The Foundation offers a monthly remuneration of NPR 10,000, along with lunch.
