Gari Khana Deu!, in association with Bichar Dabali, announced winners of its nation-wide essay competition of ‘Aspirations for Free Enterprise’ on February 26, 2015 at DECC, UWTC, Tripureshwor at Samriddhi, The Prosperity Foundation’s monthly session, Last Thursdays with an Entrepreneur, this time with hospitality industry entrepreneur, Samir Thapa. Mr. Thapa is the founder of Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management and also a founder of the American Hospitality Academy.
The first prize of Rs. 25,000 was awarded to Pooja Khati for her essay titled, ‘People’s Law Dominating Legal Laws!’ She is currently a first year student at the Asian University for Women, Bangladesh. She wrote about how media and communication tools, particularly new media tools, now play a big role in crime-reporting and working for the implementation of laws and the legal framework necessary for solving social crimes.
The second prize of Rs. 15,000 was awarded to Adity Karki, a law student from Kathmandu School of Law, who is currently in her 4th year, studying Criminal Law as a major. In her essay titled ‘Entrepreneurship and Economic Development: Opting the Sustainable Way Out’, she talks of the current socio-economic paradigms and problems of Nepal, whilst also suggesting ‘ways’ for improvement and sustainable development.
The third prize Rs. 10,000 went to an essay titled ‘Vigilant Judiciary and Rule of Law’ by Bijay Prakash Upadhyaya of Biratnagar. Bijay recently completed his undergraduate in Physiotherapy from Padmashree Institute of Physiotherapy. He writes on how our governing structures have evolved and it argues about whether in the big hustle of developing a strong executive, the national mindset has forgotten about developing an equally strong judiciary.
