Economic Freedom of the World Country Audit: Government Size in Nepal

This working paper provides a brief overview of issues relating to public finance in Nepal. The analysis is guided by Nepal’s performance in the “Size of Government” section of the Economic Freedom of the World Report. The working paper analyses subsidy patterns, the contingent liabilities of State-Owned Enterprises in Nepal, budgetary process of the Government of Nepal and social security spending. Based on the analysis some concrete policy recommendations are provided.
